Classes
Classes are held at The Pavilion at Chislehurst Cricket Ground on Saturdays at 8.30am for 1.5 hours and at Sundridge Park Tennis Club, Lawn Close, Bromley on Sundays at 10.30am for 1.5 hours (see contact page for maps). Both classes are a general level and beginners are welcome. The tuition of the Sunday class is shared between Louise and Tracy Smith, an Iyengar Junior Intermediate Level 1 teacher. The size of both classes is relatively small in order to maintain the feeling of personal tuition. As they are morning classes, if necessary, only a light breakfast should be eaten an hour before class.
Please ring Louise on 07825 528 898 before attending your first class, informing her of any medical conditions or injuries you may have. A confidential medical questionnaire will need to be completed. If you are seeing a doctor regularly for a medical condition, please ask his/her advice first.
If you have a yoga mat and a blanket, please do bring them with you or alternatively you can buy a sticky mat from Louise at your first class.
What to expect in Class
- Sequences of asanas (postures) will include standing, sitting, twisting, back bending and inverted poses.
- The basic postures build strength and stamina; improve muscle tone, flexibility and alignment and therefore relax the mind and body.
- Pranayama (breathing practices) will be included.
What Shall I Wear?
Wear something that is comfortable and that you can move easily in. It is advisable for you to wear leggings or shorts and a t-shirt. We work in bare feet. It is always nice to have extra clothes to put on for savasana (relaxation) at the end of class.
